Amazing new benefits for student members
Students really value every bit of help as they prepare for the realities of a career in event management. Our directors clearly heard this message from the many young people attending AEME (Association for Events Management Education) activities at the recent International Confex.
The students asked. We’ve acted.
The IEM’s student membership – already a bargain at just £25 – now includes FREE access to the Institute’s unique and highly-rated ‘Invest in Me’ programme, worth more than £400.
‘Invest in Me’ comprises two online courses. Each is a series of three one-hour sessions a week apart, with some reflection and preparation required in between.
The ‘Purpose’ programme, facilitated by Andy Green, is about discovering and defining your focus in life and work. Students will find it invaluable to shape their career ambitions and develop a clear-headed approach to finding work. Currently available dates are 13/20/27 March; 10/17/23 April; and 8/15/22 May.
The Health and Wellbeing programme aims to keep you functioning at peak performance. Despite what some in the industry might still claim, burnout is not a badge of honour! The programme is designed by Healthy Leaders and facilitated by Philip Dyer. Currently available dates are 12/19/26 March; 9/16/30 April; and 21/28 May/4 June.
To join the IEM and book these courses, or for education providers to find out how they too can become IEM members and support their students, email diane.earles@event-managers.institute. This is an amazing member benefit, so grab it now!

IEM becomes UKEVENTS partner
The Institute of Event Management is delighted to announce that it has been accepted as a partner of UKEVENTS.
UKEVENTS is the collective voice of the UK’s world-leading events industry, representing every part of this creative, diverse and dynamic sector. Its role is to connect partners, governments and policymakers to create a strong, growing and sustainable events industry.
“We are delighted to become a UKEVENTS partner,” says IEM Executive Board chair Tim Owen. “We look forward to joining this inclusive and open forum for events industry leaders to share thoughts, experiences and insights that enable us to communicate with one clear and collective voice.
“It is vital that we continue to engage with Government and policymakers to raise awareness of events to the UK economy and society, and their ability to progress policy objectives and drive international trade, exports and inward investment.”

Accreditation for Event Crowd
Congratulations to Event Crowd, who have achieved accreditation from the Institute of Event Management for their Level 5 Event Management Diploma.
The role of the IEM is to champion event management as a profession and support the development of those working in the industry. Our ground-breaking accreditation programme provides industry-authored benchmarks for what ‘good’ event management education should deliver, and provides independent and authoritative recognition of courses which meet those goals.
Event Crowd’s accreditation will help to produce the next generation of talented event management professionals equipped with the skills to drive the industry forward.
“This is a major milestone for Event Crowd and our students,” says Dodge Woodall, Founder of Event Crowd. “Education providers like us can only have one official accreditation status from an institute. For a long time, Event Crowd have been working with experts and focus groups to refine the curriculum and assessment to meet the industry standards to gain accreditation.
“There were previously opportunities to gain accreditation from institutes that did not specialise in event management, but it was crucial for Event Crowd to gain accreditation from an institute directly within the industry.”
