As part of our commitment to championing the industry, we are talking to people about their careers and what IEM means to them.

Steve specialises in commercial intellectual property, media and communications-related issues, working mainly with the creative, digital, and marketing sector with a nationally-recognised niche specialism in issues involving social media.  He deals in both contentious and non-contentious matters, ranging from litigation before the High Court to cross-jurisdictional disputes and complex advisory work, reducing commercial, reputational, regulatory and legal risk.  Working across the public and private sector, and with both agencies and those who buy from them, I leverage commercial expertise gained during my time in house and a passion for the sectors he works with for the benefit of his clients.

Q What does the IEM mean to you?
A The Events Sector has been seriously underappreciated and underrepresented for many years, and having worked with Event Managers for many years I’m well aware of the contribution which they may to their clients and the wider market.

Q Why did you decide it was important for you to get involved?
A I’m keen to see the sector rebound from COVID-19 and thrive again, and supporting the IEM is the best way to do so.

Q Where do you hope to see the IEM in 20 years time?
A I’d like to see the IEM with a seat at several tables in the creative and wider business sector, and for its members to be valued for their unique and significant contribution to the UK Economy.

Q What is your favourite event related memory?
A We’ve supported Marketing Show North for years now, and launching our Creative, Digital and Marketing Sector Group there in March 2020 was a personal highlight; it’s amazing how much goodwill you can generate when you have Krispy Kreme Doughnuts on your stand!
